Leading the Charge on Sustainable Omega-3s
We’ve got exciting news to share—Wiley’s Finest was featured in the September 2025 issue of Nutraceuticals World! The article, titled “New Waves in the Omega-3 Market,” takes a deep dive into the evolving landscape of omega-3s, from supply chain challenges to sustainability breakthroughs. And we’re delighted to share that Stephanie Owens, a valued member of our team, was selected to represent Wiley’s Finest as a key voice in the conversation.
As the omega-3 industry faces growing pressure from fluctuating climate events, shifting consumer expectations, and unpredictable fish oil supplies on the open market, the need for reliable, responsible sourcing has never been greater. That’s where our single-source domestic supply chain stands out. Wiley’s Finest has a trusted, long-standing partnership with American fishers to procure its Wild Alaska Pollock oil—harvested from one of the largest and most sustainably managed fisheries in the world.
Stephanie highlighted the importance of this fishery’s practices in the article:
“This fishery… is distinguished by its robust stock management, low bycatch, and strict adherence to sustainable harvesting practices,” she said. “It ensures consistent, high-quality supply amid the uncertainty.”
In other words, it’s not just about having access to omega-3s—it’s about knowing they come from a source that is well-managed, environmentally responsible, and continues to withstand the test of time. With supply chains becoming more and more unpredictable in many parts of the world, dependable sourcing like this is a major advantage.
That makes October—Sustainable Seafood Month—a perfect time to spotlight our ongoing collaboration with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). MSC certification is the absolute Gold Standard of sustainability, giving our customers the assurance they are looking for in the environmental integrity of our products.
Stephanie spoke to this growing awareness:
“Today’s consumers are more informed and discerning,” she noted. “They actively seek out products with strong environmental credentials, such as MSC certification, and value independent third-party testing for purity and potency.” This shift in consumer behavior is reshaping the industry. People want to know not just what they’re buying, but where it comes from and how it’s made. That’s why traceability, transparency, and ethical sourcing are no longer optional—they’re essential.
The article also explored the rise of alternative omega-3 sources, like algae. Stephanie weighed in on the technological advances that are making algae-based EPA and DHA more scalable and cost-effective than in times past:
“Advances in closed-loop fermentation systems, precision strain selection, and improved extraction technologies are driving better yields… and helping to reduce production costs,” she explained.
At Wiley’s Finest, we believe innovation and sustainability go hand-in-hand. Whether it’s through our fishery partnerships, our commitment to traceability, or our investment in new technologies, we’re proud to be part of the movement toward a more responsible omega-3 industry.

Seeing our work featured in Nutraceuticals World—alongside other leaders and changemakers—is a great reminder of the impact we’re making. We’re grateful for the recognition and motivated to keep pushing the conversation forward.
As we head into Sustainable Seafood Month, we’re doubling down on our commitment to sourcing responsibly, educating consumers, and supporting the health of our oceans. Because when it comes to omega-3s, it’s not just about what’s inside the bottle—it’s about the story behind it.
