Many people are surprised to learn that a large portion of the world's fish oil is produced from anchovies harvested off the coast of Peru. 

Like any natural resource, fisheries are influenced by changing environmental conditions. This year, Peru's anchovy fishery has experienced a shortened fishing season due to fishery closures and concerns surrounding developing El Niño conditions. Because Peru supplies such a significant share of the world's fish oil, changes there can ripple throughout the broader Omega-3 market. 

And while that may sound concerning, it's important to remember one thing – not every Omega-3 brand depends on the same fishery.
